Chocolate-Peanut Puppy Chow

Chocolate-Peanut Puppy Chow. Now that‘s kind of fun to say a few times, right? You know what’s not fun to say?

Laundry.

I f’n hate laundry.

And what does that have to do with this recipe you ask?

Nothing, I just figured I give you some insight into my life.

I hate laundry and right now I am so behind on washing, folding, and putting it away. It’s pathetic. I keep on staring down the damn baskets in hopes that magical Elf will do some real work and help Momma out.

Spoiler alert.....she denied my wishes and went back to the North Pole without one ounce of housework done. HHHmmmm, Elf on the Shelf needs to learn that shelves are not just for sitting, we put things away on them.....

Ok, enough of my rant.

Here is a recipe I recently made for Christmas gifts. All mason-jarred up with a ribbon around the top, my family members were all smiles to receive a homemade gift. It was super easy to make and the kids really had fun helping out. The one bag that was used to make the entire recipe made for a super quick cleanup and semi-science experiment as well. As a former teacher and a Mom to a household of 3 master mess-makers, I applauded that quality of the recipe.

And what do I not applaud?

The laundry I have to go do now. Womp womp.

Enjoy friends.....

Chocolate-Peanut Puppy Chow

Servings: 6-8

Ingredients:

4 TBS unsalted butter

4 TBS creamy peanut butter

4 TBS chocolate chips

3 Cups chow mein noodles

3 Cups Chex cereal, I used rice variety

1/2 Cup raisins

1/2 Cup peanuts

2 Cups confectioners’ sugar

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine butter, peanut butter and chocolate chips. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave for about 1 minute. Mix to combine.

  2. In a large resealable bag, combine the chow mein noodles, Chex cereal, raisins, and peanuts.

  3. Using a rubber spatula, scrape the melted mixture into the bag and seal tightly. Shake well to combine.

  4. Open the bag, add the confectioners’ sugar and seal tightly. Shake well to coat all the pieces. Open and scatter mixture on wax or parchment paper to cool.

  5. Enjoy!
